I realize that the great majority of ASSRA members cast their own bullets but I wondered if, per chance, any one has used this companies 32-40 bullets cast from a Saeco 732 mold?
Thanks!

Bought a almost full box at a local gun show cheap, years ago. I cast, but don't pass up a good box of bullets when I see them cheap. Had to resize them down for my tight bore, but they shot wonderful, and was sorry when I used the last up.

Thanks, I appreciate the reply! I thought that before I buy 2-300  I'd see what the "big guys" thought of them!

Hello JagFolks --

There was a post here on ASSRA sometime ago which indicated that M. B. W.'s ceased doing business.  It may be worth your while to verify that M.B.W.'s could be a source for your needs.

Apparantly the company was finally sold with the old owner staying on in some capacity. I'm just a for fun shooter and have been using Dave Bennetts bullets, which are very good but expensive, and thought  that I'd try something that's about half the price.
Concerning my forum name, we, my wife and I, have been heavily involved with the Jaguar clubs, both on a local and national level for close to 40 years, and E-Type Jaguars in particular, but since discovering this site a few years ago( guns were my first love) which lead to me having a CPA rifle built, Jags have been placed on the back burner!

Hi - Jag Folks --

Thanks for explaining.  I owner a fully restored Jaguar small four door business coupe' with the in-line overhead cam six cylinder and side draft carbs.

It was a wonderful ride in luxury, but the rear main crankshaft oil seal had a lot to be desired.  Are you familiar with the mechanical seal which was an oil slinger with reverse groove to return the collected oil back into the engine sump?

If I parked on an incline, the oil would run out of the clearance instead of into the sump.

The type "E' was a beautiful design and highly sought after in today's market.

jagfolks,

I have used a lot of Dave J's cast bullets for 44-40 (Lyman/Ideal 427098, the original 44-40 bullet) and found them quite consistant, visually, dimensionally, weight, and are one of very best grouping bullets in my 44-40 M92. I expect same from new owners, especially with Dave being involved.

As you have apparently already noticed, MBW uses moulds that generally have long, time-tested performance (Lyman, RCBS, Saeco, LBT, etc.).

Regards,
Grisen

Webb, I've rebuilt 4 or 5 Jag engines but all were for E-Types which used the scroll plus a rope type seal . This setup wouldn't leak if sitting on a sharp incline but would drip if the seal was not properly installed, which was/is easy to do.
I don't post very often but read this site 3-4 times a day to see what you folks are up too and have received some worthwhile suggestions from John L and Green Frog!

Back when I still owned a 32-40 High Wall I used the SAECO 732 bullet. Not sure if your question was about the bullet or the company.  All their bullets were highest quality.  Don't know about the new owners, but intend to order again soon and find out.
