My powder of choice for .32-20 CPA, .32 RKS, and .32-40 is AA 4100.  However, that stuff is unobtanium so I thought to revisit 300-MP.

This morning, I loaded 32-40 cases with an amount of 300-MP sufficient to achieve the same POI as my normal charge of AA 4100.  Accuracy was OK but there was also a very happy side effect.

The felt recoil using an equivalent charge of 300-MP was noticeably less than the felt recoil using AA 4100. 

Strange that - eh?

Interesting....I would guess that having the same poi would make the muzzle velocity close to the same?

last time out I tested my .32-20CPA with several loadings of 300-MP and was pleasantly surprised to get groups matching, or possible surpassing, those produced using 4100. I've got more 300-MP on order and would be confident using it in upcoming matches. It may prove to be my powder of choice. (When will IT become extinct?) Cheers! Ray

The only real start to answering your question will come with using a chronograph to varify that the velocity is the same.
