Modern Scope on Unertl Bases

I recently saw shooters with modern 1" scopes in rings mounted with an adapter for attaching to Unertl-type bases.  I believe that I heard that some were from BKL, but I didn't find any such mounts on their site or with a Google search.

If anybody can point me to a current source, I'd be much obliged.

contact "Frnkeore" on this site. Frank Elliott operates ELCO Machine & Fabrication and makes a beautiful adapter - Unertl/Weaver.

Ray,
Thank you for pointing him in my direction.

Paul,
Thank you for the inquiry. This is a picture of the bottom side and the distance that it will span the scope blocks.

Measure your your blocks, from end to end and if they fit within the 8.39 dimention, it will fit your application.

Thanks, Frank.  I sent you a PM earlier.

My blocks are on standard 7.2" centers, but are about 8.6" from end to end.  However, the main application will be for a new rifle, and I have other shorter blocks I can use.

Please end me contact info so we can discuss this.

Paul

I've used B-Square Weaver/Dovetail adapters.  They work quite well.

The problem with those bases is that the scope has to set to far forward. The scope length, turret and bell on a modern scope, don't allow much range for eye relief.

Thanks for the info,  Gents.

I have some time to play with this, as I won't have the rifle for awhile yet.  Meanwhile, I'll look more closely at what the shooters are using where I've been attending matches.  Most seem to be using modern scopes on their vintage single shots, and most look like they're attached to the single rear Unertl-type base.

I'm still a newbie with much to learn.

Frank, I've wondered about the eye relief issue with modern scopes.  It's a non-issue with my .22 low wall and Unertl scope.

I'd forgotten about the "poor boy" Weaver adapter that I cobbled up a few years ago.  Perhaps this will be helpful.
