While the subject rifle blew up with 12 grains of Unique, I think there was some discussion of BP on other pages.  Pretty good thread that covered a range of topics related to blown rifle.  good photos of blown rifle on first page.

The interesting bit is especially the book excerpts which are in fact a translation of Vieille's work - the guy who 'invented' the 1st successful rifle smokeless powder.  And it illustrates that actually back then he already had a pretty good grip on the principles of detonation.  And while indeed some on that forum have no knowledge of the principle, I'm pretty sure the same goes for this forum - it illustrates that knowledge gained at a certain point in time can also get 'lost'....   
Just referring to the floral foam on top of powder discussion recently, causing 'case separations'.  And chamber ringing is just a less dramatic occurrence of same.
