Joe, Where are you picking up your sco from?   
Not so secret to the old timers.
Steam cylinder oil.  But be advised there is a specific type to use.  It was a main ingredient in many an ' old' recipe.

My secret source is Green Velvet. East of Jamestown Kentucky. Somerset?

Am rather new to the sport. Had a fellow tell me in passing that he used Zorro Lube. Anybody heard of that?  Didn't find anything in the archieves about it.....
