Did Bud Welsh make barrels?

I just won an auction for a Aydt rifle with two barrels.  The first is the german 8.15 x46 r.  The second is marked Bud Welsh and numbered 011.  It is false muzzeled with matching number on the false muzzel and guide starter.  Will post pictures after I get the rifle.

Bud had a rifling machine I remember the ad when he sold it. How many barrels and what quality they were is another question. Bud was capable of nice work but I have seen other examples that look like he whacked it out with an axe. His Walker Hepburn conversions were an example some were very good others I would be embarrassed to own.

I had several rifles with Bud Welsh barrels, I think there must be quite a few out there. I had Bud barrel up an Aydt with a false muzzle barrel, I wanted a 32-40, but it ended up being a 33, as I recall it shot well. Bud made good accurate barrels and molds. I believe the Aydt I had was an Anschutz, if you look on the top of the action there should be an engraved BA for "Bruno Anschutz."

Bob thiis sounds like the same rifle.  It came out of california and is a marked as a 33-47.  What bullet did you shoot in it?  At the time it has both breech seating and muzzle breech loading tools but no bullet mold.

At the time that barrel was made, I think 1980, it had a muzzle starter and mold that came with it, I think the mold was a tapered Pope style.;

This is a Bud Welch 33 mold that I tried to get off of Ebay but, lost out in the last second.

From the picture, I scaled it and made this drawing.

That rifle just sold by LOCK STOCK and Barrel in Simi Valley Ca. Consignment sales store.
Looks like he must have done some good work but the 32-40 mould I bought from him was useless. Looked like it was cut with a dull tool after a tough night.

Bud Welsh, "nipple snappers".  I shot some high OH scores with these little babies. They make a snapple sound when they go through the target.

It's interesting to see this stuff after so many years, here's a pic of the original mold that I found on the net;

Very nice, Bob. I would have had a very, very hard time passing that one on.

Bob thank you for posting the picture.  Did you ever shoot it as a muzzle-breech loader with black powder?
