Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Wow; thanks.  A friend and I both have Ballard's with his barrels.  Mine, with a new chamber, will shoot well inside an inch at 100.

I have a Rigby Ballard relined to .22lr by CC. The barrel is marked CC Johnson, Thackery, O. It shoots really well and the fit of the extractor is really tight. Have tried unsuccessfully to post some pictures. But am glad to see the pictures of CC himself.

Nice Rigby! CCJ soft soldered the liners in. He used a gasoline blowtorch to heat the barrels and thus the original finish was left intact.
