Brudford1 how are your 200yd. groups shaping up? Using the same powder and bullet the one I sold Joe and the same twist rate in my CPA I was quite a bit higher on my powder charge before I got exceptional accuracy. I hope you can read all the load data 15.4grs. and you will notice the 1-16 on the right provided slightly better results than the 1-18 on the left. If venture that far up on the powder charge all though I did not get any pressure signs move slowely.

Do I detect spitzer bullet imprints in those targets?

Thanks for asking J Louis . Groups are much better . I purchased some really nice red and white 25 ring German Schuetzen targets . At 200 yards I'am shooting 10 shots like I'am shooting a match score for 250 and I can now keep them all in the 24/25 rings . No 250's so far but some low 240 scores . I wish I had some actual Schuetzen competitions here in Western PA but I guess you have to travel . Yeah I also have looked at some of those higher IMR 4227 powder charges . I might experiment some with that . You said ," go above 15.0 grs" ? The Hoch mould is becoming seasoned finally and I cast fast and hot with this mould . I did order a Saeco .322 mould their version of a Schuetzen tapered bullet. It is a base poor. I'am just going to experiment a little with it, however I'am very happy with the Hoch mould now . Buy the way I see Redding Reloading now owns Saeco moulds ? The owners manual that CPA sent with my rifle back in May 2015 states under the Contents section ATTENTION " The CPA action is designed for use with black powder or black powder equivalent loads developing no more than 30,000 psi". Well I'am really not concerned because this CPA action and barrel is a Bemouth ! Just what would the psi be for that load of IMR 4227 > 15.0 grs. ? Thanks

Frank yes you did indeed I posted the wrong targets and it has now been corrected and as you can see the Hoch FN shot much better.

Brudford1 I apologize for the original posting of the incorrect targets.
I am not sure what the pressure would be with the 15 grain loads of 4227? I have gone there with faster burning powders with no issues but the accuracy fell off dramaticly.

Frank not to change the subject the wrong targets posted were shot with a 216gr. 6 diameter ogive cylindrical spitzer bullet and it was my long time favorite for about 9 nine to ten years or there about in my CPA 15 twist. It was the only bullet I was shooting in competition during that time frame. Then I started playing with the FN Nose bullets and noticed a real improvement right away and the rest is history. The above mentioned spitzer was the one I found shot the best for me at that time in competition but I was also trying to develop a large variety of others as well. Some shorter, lighter, three groove instead of five, seven diameter ogives as well as five including the Groppe Transonic probably the most popular and radical nose design and being used at the time by all the top shooters. My CPA has over 144,000 bullets down the bore with the majority of them being spitzers. When I speak of the FN being a better choice for me in regrads to improved accuracy and consistency it isn't as if I never gave the spitzers a try!
In all honesty if I new then what I know now and I have won more than my fair share of the various matches over the years I could have accumulated quite a few more. For me there has been that much of a noticble difference between the two and me, myself and I being the key words the results very well might not be the others but might be well with a try?

I wish I would have keep the two Jones Groppe Transonic bullet moulds I had at the time as collectors as most don't even know what they are anymore and I haven't seen one being used in years.

Here is another target shot with Joes Hoch bullet with a faster burning powder than 4227, H-108. I spent alot of time with 4227 and all though it would shoot extremely well at times I could not find any day in and day out consistency while using it. The old and now long gone AA-9 and H-108 were probably thee best powders at the time and its a real shame that they decided to re-invent the AA-9. The new powder is no where close to the old so I had to move on and now the 300MP has become the been the best choice for me.
Notice the powder charge noted on the target as being about 6 tenths less than the 4227, a plus in my book.
