You can get poly foam sheets from Grainger in any thickness you want.  Their stores are everywhere. It is an industrial supply house, but they will sell to anyone.  Anything that is not in stock locally will be there in 3 or 4 days for pickup.  Johnstone Supply probably has it too, but they aren't as diversified as Grainger.

Finally, a use for those pipe insulation stubs I've been hoarding in the garage.  FWIW I made my cutter out of a Steyr 8x56R cartridge case, head removed, mouth sharpened.  Two twists and the wad is cut.  Something to occupy my hands with in idle moments.

I also have a copy of the recipe and the one I have does include the metal conditioner but it is also something that I am not willing to share freely without having the blessing to do so.
