	Single cavity ladle caster. Alloy to suit the rifle. Cast fast as I can to keep the mold hot which makes bullets weigh within three tenths of a grain. Bob Gordon used to bottom pour. One year I beat him by one point in a big match at Tacoma. He made a point to tell me he had a bullet fall short and that's why I won. Told Bob that I beat him fair and square and that I load better ammo to boot. A win's a win. Joe.

	I should have mentioned that I cast at 800 degrees and get a little frosting, 750 makes a nicer looking bullet with a little more weight variation and under 750 has never worked well for me. I place the mould on the lip of the pot while the alloy is coming up temp. When the pot is up to temp. I place the front lower edge of the mould in the alloy just shy of the alignment pin hole for a count of 20-25 seconds to further bring the mould up to temp. and then start casting. I generaly toss the first 4or5 back in the sprue pan and then off I go. Do not put your sprues back in the pot until the end of the casting session it will alter the alloy temp. My pots temp. is controlled by a 1000 Watt dimmer switch of which provides a constant regulated current thus a more constant alloy temp. The pot no longer cycles on and off with big temp. swings of which is not conducive to bullet weight consistency. If one wants to go this route do not try using a dimmer switch rated at under 1000watts it will over heat and could start a fire. JLouis

	Bob it is a Leviton sliding dimmer, I have been using it going on about 13 years now and I don't remember the exact model number. I picked it up at my local hardware store and Lowes or Home Depot should have it? Other than being rated at 1000 Watts it really isn't anything special. 	If you look for a dimmer look at the ratings very closely. With all the advances in lighting lately, one needs access to the web to find out what dimmer will work with what kind and model of lamp. Be sure it is rated for at least 1000 watts and incandescent lamps.

	Should work. Just turn the rheostat up to as high as it will go and save the trouble of taking it apart.

	It seems I have to convert to ladle casting my bullets. Target below shot with my bottom pour pot.

	Thanks for all the info guys, I have been eavesdropping and learned my biggest mistakes - not ladle-casting and throwing the sprue back into the pot. I was getting a variation of +2 to -6 grains. I also need to find the right temp for the Hoch 322200 (non-tapered) mould.

	You can cast excellent bullets and still drop the sprue back into the pot. I think that as long as everything you are doing is done consistently then you'll have no problems. I used to save my sprues and remelt them later, but switched to dropping them back into the pot immediately after cutting them. I also like ladle pouring with single cavity mold. I used to bottom pour but I switched to the ladle as it worked much better for me. Chris.
