	Any ideas for a fixed load in a .38-50 Rem-Hep. using 4227, or other common smokeless powders? Looking for a 100 yd or 200 yd load to practice offhand. Any help would be appreciated.

	17-19gr is a good starting point. Likely shoot better with 45-49gr of 2F Swiss, as god intended.

	I would go with the BP load as suggested, two of the advantages with this is that firstly you will feel much better about yourself afterwards, and secondly, you will not be risking eternal damnation. Hope this helps. Mike.

	Guys, I truly appreciate your concern regarding my soul and eternal damnation but I'm just looking for a smokeless load to make offhand practice a little less burdensome. I have BP loads for this rifle which I shoot in BPCR matches. It is a Cody Ballard with a Douglas 8 land/8 groove, 1:12 twist barrel. My BPCR load is 59 gr. 1 1/2 Swiss with a .060 Walters vegetable wad and wax paper on top with a 367 grain Brooks Creedmoor bullet cast 1:20. I'm wanting a smokeless load so that the reloading for practice would go a little quicker and cleaner. Again, thanks for the concern but could I just get some suggested smokeless loads.......thank you.

	Hi Wall. 18.5 gr of 4227 behind a Paul Jones spitzer bullet cast in 20-1 will give you an average MV of 1221 fps with a spread of 13 fps in a CPA 44 1/2. I would rather not discuss how I found this out. Regards, Mike.

	Hi-wall56 it's good that you told everyone you shoot BP before fire and brimstone rained down on you. I shoot 52 grains of Old Ensford and a 380 grain nasa bullet in my 38-50, so I guess my soul is safe.
