i have a new toy and need to fire form 3 new cases. using new brass how do i do it??   if i fill the case with powder and add a wad on top will that do it.? will a wax wad work?
action is a Hoch, 32-40 chamber.
i just need the cases fired in the new chamber so a breech seater can be made    Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

fill the case with grits, cream of wheat, or cornmeal and cap it off with a wax wad, or disc of milk carton. Or, just use a bullet- the original way to fire form all cases to a rifle. Have fun.

I think the best way is to shoot some nice cast bullets in those cases.  It'll help you get used to your new toy.  You can even make a plugged case seater and breech seat them using that.  I'd suggest shooting them a few times before sending them out to have the seater made.

I agree with gunlaker make up a temp plugged case and shoot some cast bullets. Make shure that the case mouth is belled enough to give good contact with the chamber fire once or twice viola.
