What Do You Use For A Range Box?

I have been using .30 cal. and .50 cal. ammo cans to hold my range "Stuff." I would like to better organize my range "stuff."

Just wondering what seems to be the most efficient and/or popular containers or boxes used at the shoots.

Photos and/or links would be great.

I use a Pachmayr Pistol Box. I ditched the pistol clamps and built a couple of new drawers/slides. It also has a compartment in the back that won't show in the pictures that holds various accouterments. Works fine for me except it gets a little heavy when loaded with everything. The plus side is everything I need for my 25-20 and 33-47 fits, so I don't leave anything behind at home.

I transport my bullets in a Craftsman tool bag or a 30 Cal. ammo can, depending on how many I'm taking.

You have it well organized and everything looks easy to get to.  A friend of mine uses a past board box he had left over from a move and he wrapped the outside in duct tape. He been using it for years.

Nice box Jerry, I especially like your collection of metal containers. Better be careful - I see that secret item close to the 300MP. What is the wooden sleeve for?

GeorgeC, I use a wood tool chest 8"x16"x20" from Harbor Freight. It is on sale now for $80. Works well for me.

The wooden sleeve adapts the small blue Maglite to my Lyman STS. When I'm down range setting my flags I can see the light shining through the scope. It makes lining up my flags easy.

I use my front rest and rear bag as a cradle.

Here is my stuff.

The tool box is 14.5x20x10 dp. I bought it 1985 and it has traveled many, many miles in that time. It's also gotten very heavy over the years.

Next my Badger shooting box. It carrys powder, cappers, bullets and oil.

And, lets not forget the plastic milk cartons. My wife uses a 1/2 size one but, I can't go that small. I have my bags and front rest, powder measure, decapper, C-clamp, practice targets, spay solvents, stapler and as you can see, my spoting scope.

If I have my boxes stocked up, I can shoot when I get to the range IF I remember to take my rifle Smiley Don't ask me why I said that!!!

I use the Large Brownels shooting bag with the following items stored in it. Zippered top comartment, powder measure stand. RH outside compartment, spotting scope and stand. Front out side compartment, staper and staples. Back outside compartment, brownels gunsmithing screw driver set and 6 Vernier. LH inside padded compartment, 28-35 breach seater and re&de capper. RH inside padded compartment, 25-21 breach seater and re&de capper. Large center compartment, baby powder 14oz., powder measure, JB, 25-21 patches, 28-35 patches, 1 lb. 300MP, ear protection and a container of misc. allen wrenches, inside
front pockets, magnet level, 8 oz.ballistol, 8 oz. bore solvent, parts kit, timer, container of spare 25-21 brass w/ primer pocket cleaner and case exspander, container with tube sight front sight inserts, small scissors, tweezers, pen and 0000 steel wool. Back inside pockets, primer tray and cover, container of spare 28-35 brass and primer pocket cleaner, mag lite and delrin scope adapter for setting out wind flags, wipe out lead remover, small rifle primer pocket uniformer, large rifle primer pocket uniformer and broken case extractor all neatly stored and readily accessible. I might have left out a few items those listed were just off the top of my head.

That leaves me with only having to carry wind flat stands and sail tails container, front rest, rear bag, drummers stool and a medium sized metal padded drill box containing arm rest sand bag, bullets room for 400 in styrofoam containers, primers, bench cover, wind flags and approx. 50 ASSRA score targets for practice outings.

Frank, no serious shooter should show up at a range w/o a milk crate.   Grin

Don, that Gerstner is one beautiful shootin' box.  Does your powder thrower fit in the top of the box?

Frank,

The scope/Maglite adaptor wasn't my idea. John Louis made, and gave that useful item to me.

Brownells Shooting Bag with comments posted in an earlier post.
The second picture shows the space the bag, box, front rest and rear bag take up. Width is 32 inches and depth 28 inches.
