Hi all, My name is Dave and hail from Tasmania, the most southern state of Australia. I have done some BPCR shooting with a Navy Arms roller in 45-70 and have been having a good time with it ( I also shoot Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette, Military Rifle Silhouette and Cowboy Single Action ) and as I work 1 day a week in a Firearms sports store I purchased a Sportco Martini in 22l/r for Rimfire BPRC for the grand sum of $80 Australian. I thing it is in the sporting configuration and a Mdl 12? I am know in the process of trying to acquire a rear sight for it. That's a bit about me.

cheers

Welcome: But you can't fool me Tasmania is really a small continent south of Australia, as told to me by a Tasmanian I met in Sydney , Adrian Chambers a great"mate" short time to know but a long influence on my outlook of Tasmania. With the GUN LAWS in Australia, owning and shooting any fire arm must DIFFICULT to say the least. Martini's are fantastic , started with them, have kept most!57thahc Dick Stack

Turned in my M60 for a Martini!

Thanks for the warm welcomes.

57thahc, yes I wish it was another country sometimes, I reckon it would solve a couple of problems. We are just going through another round of potential changes due to the proposed import of a lever action shotgun. Single shots are the safest way to go. I already shoot BPCR in 45.70 Govt and I needed a 22 cal rifle so I bought the Martini, now I will have the fun of setting it p for shooting....

cheers

Dave,

Are there any pigs to thump in Tasmania?  There aren't any in Alaska but I hear they're moving into Southern Canada. A single shot 45-70 would be perfect.

stockerman,

Sorry mate no pigs in Tassie but there are some on an island called Flinders Island about half way between Tassie and mainland Australia. All we have here are kangaroos, possums etc (native game) and fallow deer (introduced) and all can only be shot on permits because that a government regulated.

cheers

Hi Dave,
Welcome aboard! I have fond memories of numerous frosty glasses of Cascade. I was introduced to the wonderful amber fluid by an old Aussie sailor as he recounted his days aboard HMAS Canberra.

Welcome to the forum and to ASSRA, Dave.  It's good to hear from a fellow Schuetzen shooter from  the land down under.
