Moulds for 310 Cadet and 297/230 Morris projectile

I understand a lot of you in the US have Martini Cadet rifles but do you keep them original and shoot the heeled projectile they were built for, similarly the 297/230 heeled projectile, if so can you recommend a bullet mould maker as I need to get moulds for both calibres. Any help greatly appreciated.

I would contact (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links). I don't know if he has the correct molds or not, but if he doesn't, if you can come up with a drawing I am sure that he can cut you a mold. He may not be able to do the 297/230 but he can do the 310.  I have one of his molds in Aluminum and he does first class work and  has excellent turn around time.

The 297/310 Morris bullets are round nose.  Accurate doesn't have CNC setup for RN, only 1/8" metplat or larger

I'm in the same position, mainly due to having several SS rifles and can only get to one at a time.  My Martini is an as-issued NSW in .310, I had to experiment with cutting down fire-formed 3220 cases until they would chamber reliably with a proper bullet inserted.  Chambering reamers were not meticulously applied and as such COL varies.

Don't know about the 297, but for the 310 I use the RCBS 310-120-RN. Excellent accuracy.

I have used the RCBS molds in 310 Cadet for 20yrs now with excellent results. I don't know why the 297-23 or 25 or Cadet needs a round nose. I used to use Eley .22 bullets in my 23, which were flat nosed. I used to shoot 297-25 as well and had a mold for it, but it is long gone. I second the rec for Accurate molds---superb service and quality'

+1 on the RCBS mold. Also isn't there a company called something like BCE (May be Australian) who did or does make a whole line of molds for the 310 Cadet?

Correction to previous post. It's CBE and here's a link to the half dozen or so molds they have for 310 Cadet.

Sorry to disapoint you BUT Cadet rifles were NOT built for heeled bullets!

Original Cadets by BSA had bores of 0.316" and ammunition by Colonial Cartridge Co in 1912 were .316" jacketted bullets. Later lead cartridges by the same maker were non-heeled and .317 diameter. Our own local bullet maker produced for a time jacketted projectiles of .316".

Around 1926 the call went out for replacement barrels and the contract was won by Greener who produced barrels of .319 - .322" which did not shoot the .316"ammo very well. Again Colonial Cartridge Co. developed the solution a heeled bullet and produced this right up to WW2.

So now we have rifles - original issue which have the same serial number on the barrel, receiver and butt; and the rebarrelled ones (with oversized bores) that have a matching serial No. on the barrel and receiver and a different Serial No. on the receiver and butt.

This data has been researched and confirmed by Brian Labutta who wrote the 'bible'on Martini Cadets and lives very close to me.

My bullet for original Martini Cadets is the non-heeled CBE 317.125PB

It appears to my good fortune that my 8/11 BSA is original.  It has a .316/.322 bore and is serialed to the receiver and butt.  And....the barrel is BSA.  But it does shoot heeled bullets well.

That's a rebarrel as it has the two serial No's on the receiver, one matched to the barrel and one matched to the butt! BSA also supplied barrels but they are not as good as originals

I guess I was misinformed that the 13k numbers were the Commonwealth Military Force numbers.  Thanks for the clarification.
