Looks like the early variant Lyman 103, with screw spacing too short for a Winchester.
What is the mounting screw spacing (center to center), the height of the staff from center of the pivot to the top of the cone where the stem threads in, and there should also be a letter code stamped into the underside of the base.

There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading, the few who learn by observation, and the rest who have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.

Looks like a 103. Possibly a 144. Should have a code stamped on the bottom that indicates the application.

Looks like a early Lyman 103.  Here is a later model with the locking lever. It is for a Winchester 52. The bottom of the sight is generally mark with use.

The 144 is quite different from the 103.

Here is a picture of a Lyman 144. They were used on Stevens Rifles 414, 417 and 418 series. The last one that I saw at auction went for $265.

First Thanks To all For Help. From your info and picture's It is a 103. I did find the letter code, it is F, I thought it what for front. It goes to show, ever an old dog can learn. This model 45 Steven is what the sight was on, that I just found on a auction.

FYI...
I always look at the length (height) of the uprights (Lyman called the knurled barrel a "sleeve" and that part of the upright that the sleeve rotates around a "joint") on tang sights.
I've encountered sights where the sleeve, joint and stem assembly are NOT correct in length for the letter code stamped into the bottom of the sight base.
The parts are not that difficult to swap from one sight to another, so flea-bay buyers beware!

It gets interesting when someone has switched parts around in the past. The 144 is somewhat similar to the 103 in the fact that both are windage adjustable but they are definitely different. The 144 is rather scarce because it was only used on the 417  and 418 Walnut Hill's.

"NP" was the application code for Stevens New Model Pocket Rifle
"P" was the application code for Stevens Ideal
"PC" was the application code for Stevens Crackshot
"RP" was the application code for Stevens Reliable Pocket Rifle
"SM"  was the application code for Stevens Model 75 (and other rifles)
"ST"  was the application code for Stevens Repeater Model 80
"SV"  was the application code for Stevens Repeater Model 70

Now I have to admit that I'd love to see the 103 with the "RP" for the Stevens Reliable Pocket Rifle.     Wink

A nice scarce 1(A?) tang sight on a really nice Stevens Pocket Rifle.
Looks like the Stevens combination rear folding peep (the rear dovetail tangent sight) has been replaced, while the Stevens combination globe front is still present.
I'm taking a liking to that accessory trigger over-travel stop screw.
Thanks for posting the pic, Dave.    Smiley

The lyman peep sight has found a new home. I found this little darling at a local auction. In 32 Ideal most were afraid of or had never heard of it??? Think goodness It did not  cost a kidney. 3-d was ready with the dies and rocky mountain cartridge Co.  was ready with new shiney cases. and yes it shoots like dream. Bonner

Beautiful 44. Anything in .32 Ideal is hard to find and usually brings a premium. I found a 44 1/2 in .32 Ideal a year or so back after a long search. Good find.
