40 Shot Shooter Classification (score shot at least three times  within two years):
Master 35 to 40
AAA     29 to 34
AA       22 to 28
A         15 to 21
B           0 to 14

Red circle around the score indicates either 5 silhouettes or 10 silhouettes were shot in a row.

Must have very few master shooters in Canada. In the U.S., BPCR classifications for a 40-shot match are:
Master  31-40
AAA      26-30
AA        21-25
A          16-20
B          0-15
5-pins are only for AA or lower classifications, except for chickens, where all are eligible for 5-pins. However, the 5-animals must be from a single 5-animal bank. That is, for either a 5-pin or 10-pin the first animal must be animal 1 on a bank.
Until 2007(?), master was 28-40. Every classification moved up at that time.

Posted the above from my 2015 NRA Silhouette Score Book.
Here is a link to the current NRA rulebook for silhouette:
(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

BTW - why was/is the match called an "invitational"? My understanding is that it was/is open to all.

I understand the higher classifications can still receive the pins if they pay for them.

Could be true, but I don't know any AAA or master shooter that would want a 5-pin for anything other than chickens.

That's a nice comparison.  I haven't seen that before.  Another thing that makes the chicken target tricky is getting a consistent sight picture with apertures.  Not that the German ring target is easy mind you Smiley.

If it were up to me all targets would be round  Smiley

When looking through iron sights at 200 meters the chickens look more like pigeons.

One of the top chickens shooters in the game today says to picture the chicken as round. Wish I had that sort of 'mind control'.
My problem with chickens is trying to time them running through the center of my sight picture. When they stop it is only for the briefest of time and can't seem to pull the trigger when they do. Wink
The primary difference between AAA & master shooters is the master shooters have "mastered" shooting chickens. They average 5 or more per match and the rest of us average 3 (if we are lucky) or less.

Why did so many people not finish their last target?
