Mine in 38-55 is good for elevation to 100 yds.  What then?  What have y'all done?

Would prefer something on the barrel (two pieces - action and barrel).

Looking into lowering the front sight.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Had one years ago, and I inletted a piece of brass flat bar into the stock, behind the receiver. Epoxy bedded it in, and drilled and tapped for a Marlin spacing, as I had plenty of bases in that size. Put a midrange vernier on it, and it worked out pretty nicely for longer ranges.

If memory serves Big Gus has installed Krag or 1903 rear sights on the tube and shot them at Ram Bash..

Smith Enterprises H&R sight at Buffalo Arms.  Screws right onto the holes in the rear of the barrel, flips up, and has a peep hole as well.

Gus mentioned he'd done 4 with 1901 Krag carbine rear sights.  I'm considering it if I can find one (or more) at the right price.

Hmmm. Brass might add a nice touch....
