Substitute for CCI Green Tag?

I use CCI Green Tag in Lee Shaver's .22 LR conversion units in a couple guns.  The Green Tag seems to be super-scarce right now.  Any other available and reasonably priced brands of .22 LR subsonic target ammo that work well?

Also a current source, if you know.

I'm not sure I know what Green Tag is but I shoot CCI std velocity and just tried some Norma match from Champions Choice.  The Norma shot significantly tighter groups than the CCI but it cost more as well.  It comes in two favors.

Try:  Wolf Match Tgt or SK Rifle Match(from the same factory).  Excellent accuracy (  Lapua company)
and you may find it here and there.  Probably up to $8-9 per box noe.
Wolf Match Extra is more $$$, but also real good.

Also been happy with Green Tag, but am down to my last brick, so have been experimenting with the Norma and other ammo. Will have some more results after the 4th, but in my Hepburn the Norma case does not want to extract completely and I have to get it out with the help of my pocket-knife, etc. A real PITA, regardless of how it shoots. Two that do work well are the Lapua Center-X and Midas. Also have some of the better Wolf to try.

Dang............ that's about what I paid for two 100rd boxes last time I purchased Green Tag a little over two (2) years ago. After the "shortage" (ahem), prices seem to have increased by 50% on most .22LR ammo other than the very top, which only increased 25%. Gotta luv it.

Yeah, I found a local small shop that had 2 boxes on hand, paid over $40 including the tax.  Tried some Federal Target also, rated only 10 FPS faster velocity (1080 vs 1070 for the Greeen Tag) but they seem to crack a bit more.  Both very accurate, and, I'm sure, safe in the Shaver conversion unit. Rim dimesions seem a bit more consistent on the Federals, too.

Shot a .22BPCR match yesterday with my DZ Arms Hepburn and cleaned the pigs, but only got 2-turkeys. Was thinking it might have been the CCI Pistol Match ammo I was using not holding up at 150m. So, I "buckled down" and ignored my complaining left forearm (pulled muscle - old age crap) and knocked over 8 turkeys in a row (after it no longer counted, of course), so know the CCI Pistol Match is good. Then went on to knock over 12/15 rams with it, so know that CCI Pistol Match is good out to 200m on a ram-sized target. The last ammo I shot out of the rifle prior to yesterday was Norma Match and I did notice that, without cleaning between, it took ~25rds for the CCI to "settle in".

Plan is to test Wolf Target Match, CCI Green Tag, Norma Match, Rem-Eley and Lapua Center-X at the Thurmont, MD match at the end of the month, if all goes well. 100yd & 200yd re-entry matches are just the thing for ammo testing.

Glenn, a lot of testing of different ammos on paper will go along way to give you a good picture of exactly ammo what your rifle prefers - groups shot on paper don't lie. I expect that when you get done shooting some groups with Center X you'll see how much better it is than some of the ammos you mentioned. In the long run better ammo just shoots better and more reliably. There's an old Chinese proverb - "if you want to play, you got to pay". Also, if you look at equipment surveys of match winners, it is very clear that they do not win shooting cheap ammo. I guess it sometimes comes down to deciding how much winning is worth to you - if you're an A Class silhouette shooter, going from Wolf Match Target to top-of-the-line Eley isn't going to automatically you a Master shooter. One thing that is undeniable, though, is that standard velocity ammo will consistently out-shoot high velocity ammo at .22 BPCR Silhouette distances.
I think we all look forward to seeing the test results from your new Hepburn, which is capable of shooting very good groups.

I bought a case of RWS Target from Champions Choice recently,600 plus shipping, still have half a brick of R50. Need to replenish the good stuff.

16.50 a box is not cheap but matches only I don't use a brick a year.  Last months club match 1,2,3 place one shot made the difference driving home happy or sad. Other thing match day ammo entry fee tank of gas breakfast and lunch out, 100 dollars, cut cost pack a bag lunch befor shooting cheap ammo.

Same brand practice and match is a economical solution. You also save if buying top quality match ammo, no need to test it. It's going to shoot well.
