By golly, that was interesting. I just read Farr's story of the first one piece stock he made for a guy (Landis Woodchuck book page 177) and he said that the recoil was taken by the fore end mounting (and something about a plate) such that the barrel was tied down and the action was free. So I just took the rifle and held it up to the light and the action shoulders do not touch the stock! Just the top tang with the wood screw and the rest of the action is totally free of the wood.

If memory serves me right the one piece stock does not fit the rules for ASSRA or ISSA Competition. Not that I would object to anyone using it, it has allot of charm all of its own.

There are a number of one piece stocks at ASSRA matches; Dale Reynolds and Paul Amberger are hard to beat. ASSRA rules do not prohibit them. I think Marlin Bassett started it. We don't have a problem with Trapdoors either.

Marlin was quite an amazing and Curious Man who was also an extremely benefit to this Sport.
