Am I just being weird?

I was lucky enough to win one of Jojodo's auctions last night of an Ideal Hand Book signed by A.O. Niedner in 1939! Call it weird or whatever....but I get goosebumps thinking that I will be thumbing thru the very pages that Mr. Niedner himself referred too on occasion as he developed loads and pondered outcomes. I love history and I will certainly treasure this opportunity to "connect" with one our founding fathers. Contrary to most book collectors wishes, I hope that this handbook is absolutely loaded with hand written notes in the margins!

Well Done,
I bid on this too.
I get the same feeling when I pick up one of my old singleshots.
The connection with history is quite tactile.
I imagine who, why, and when this rifle was last used in the day.
It's what keeps me collecting and I guess many stamp and coin collectors feel the same.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I think any collector who can be assured through provenance that someone like Niedner, (or any other notable in single shot history) built, handled, or owned a piece, can't help but get excited at that!
I think that's why people collect things like Pope, Schoyen, Niedner, Zischang, etc. built! Just knowing the old masters worked on something, can't help but make the imagination go wild!
