	I read that you cannot form 25 20 WCF from 32 20 NICKEL. Is this true? If anyone has had success with this I would like to know.

	I can't answer your question directly, but i can tell you that i have used, re-formed, etc. nickel plated brass in 30-06, 45-70, 30-30, and a few other calibers. I found this type of brass to be harder, thicker, and more difficult to work with. I had a lot of 50 pcs. or 45-70 nickel plated brass until recently. After several firings (about 10-12), the nickel layer just peeled or scaled off the brass and scratched my sizing die beyond hope. I would not form 25-20 from 32-20 nickel plated brass.

	Years ago when I just got into Schuetzen I ran across 150 John Wayne cases. These are the nice bright shiny nickel cases; they were once fired and pretty reasonable. I felt like the luckiest guy alive, and then I fired them. They were all tough and springy it took about twice as many shots to get them to fire form to a chamber and many of them cracked at the bottom. I soon went back to brass cases and sold the nickel ones to anyone who oohed and ahed over John Waynes. I still keep a few to make tools with cause they do look pretty but that’s it. The upshot of this windy story is save yourself a headache use solid brass. 40 Rod

	I had no issues in forming No.2 Musket from Nickeled Federal .470 Nitro express - annealing is a bit harder though, as there are no visual clues, but tempilaq can help there.

	The reason I asked is because it seems impossible to find 25 20 wcf brass. Several places have listed in in nickel. I am not able to find 32 20 either. been searching the web.

	Several places have listed 32 20 in nickel. Not 25 20 as in previous post. My mistake.

	Picked up some 32-40 Nickel cases quite a few years back and I found them to be superior to the standard brass for breach seating purposes. JLouis

JLouis That makes a lot of sense, because you are not doing anything to that brass except replacing primers. It will probably last hundreds of firings.

	I bought 100 John Wayne cases in 1985, off Shot Gun News. I sized a lot of them in 32/40 FL dies w/o problems. I've NEVER bought more, since then, because I still have at least 70 left. The only problem that I ever had was pulling the necks off of about 3 of them, using BP, BSed loads. I've also loosened the primer pocket of a lot of them from single case loading but, they last a long time before that happens. Frank

	I anneal my 25-20 on my Ken light annealer using the 6BR ring, they twirl cock eyed but it works. I have A "flaring" die I then use,for seating the brass in the chamber so no blow back. Just works nicer and anneal about twice a year or when my thumb tells to to anneal again.Pete

	Why are Nicole plated treated any differently than standard. I don't know what the difference the plating is as far as telling color change when annealing goes, Or the neck turning. ? Larry

	True, I would think there would be no difference. But some do not recommend forming 25 20 from 32 20 nickel. Could it be that standard brass cases are just plated making them slightly heaver and tougher to form?
