I just got 4lb (all they had, 2lb is all they let you buy, but, I had my wife with me Smiley ) at the Spokane Sportsman Warehouse.

They don't stock 4100 at any SW (at least that's what I was told) but, Ramshot Enforcer is the same as 4100 and they do stock that.

Spokane didn't have Enforcer but, I've got mine here at the Medford store, about 1.5 years ago.

argie1891, I shoot a 32-40 Stevens 44 1/2 with a Hoch 205 BS/JSL. The load that I shoot is 14.0 grains of AA#9, and a Federal 210 primer. Have gone higher but to no avail in accuracy. It is a safe load in the 44 1/2 but I don't know if it is safe in a Stevens 44 or a Ballard. Best 5 shot group at 200 yards was .835". Also keep in mind that AA#9 is not a powder that you'd want to have a double charge with.

Joe in my CPA 32-40 Breach Seated my rifle liked 14.2grs. of AA-9 and Rem. 91/2 Primers. It was my powder of choice for several years until they made a change in manufacturing and it was never the same so I made the move to 300MP back around 2009.

Quickload says just short of 19,000 psi, so safe enough in a well put together Model 44.  But I'd want the "lugged hammer" to be extra secure.

No, you sure don't want to double charge with AA#9, and unfortunately it's too easy to do.   I did it last year in a just-rebuilt .25-20 Stevens Model 44, and while the gun did not break, the pressure calculated to something over 80,000 psi.   Shocked   Had it been a .32-40, something would have let go I'm pretty sure.

All you 32-40 guys....sheesh.... Wink
How about a starter load for a CPA 32-20 with a Hoch 205?  The load section referenced is mostly other calibers.
I;ve been using 11.7 of 4227 and Darr lube with some success....

Most of the guy's that are shooting CPA 32/20's and #9 are using 9.0 - 9.5 gr. The Miller Shorts are using about two gr more. They both (Miller/32-20) say they are going about 1300 - 1350 fps. I'm using 13.5 in my 33 ELCO Max and running 1450 - 1470 fps

It might be worth a try to use Javelina Schuetzen or Alberta Schuetzen lube, especially if you ever shoot in warmer temps.

Data is at the bottom of the 200yd. Target and was shot by one of our competitors. AA 4100 provides the same velocity as AA-9 but with less pressure. AA-4100 is also the choice of powder for the various 25's out my way.

that is some shooting.. I am going to have to wait on the 4100 until I shoot up some of the other powders I have on hand. I have around 12 lbs of 4759 3 of 4227 and a pound of aa9. I really think I should shoot a bit with what I have on hand prior to buying much more. joe

And how...what a group.  4100 is only a myth but I'll sure be picking some up if it ever surfaces.  What was your starting load of 4759, Joe?

years ago when I joined the CBA the first thing I did was to look in fouling shot to see what the big boys were shooting in matches. I was looking for the holy grail of accuracy. Most of my match shooting has been done with military rifle and cast bullets. what I learned is that whatever the hot dog in one gun club was what most of the other shooters used. if the constant winner was using powder x then everyone went to that powder. then you check out another range and hot dog is shooting powder y everyone went to that powder. I haven't found any powder that will equal unique..  at least in my match rifle a 1891 argentine mauser. I use unique on everything but hamburgers. so far 4759 in my cpa shoots best.

Strange as it may seem, I put up an 8lb'r of AA9 for sale twice here in Alberta, still have it. Pretty sure it wasn't overpriced, either.

A local store has a keg for $202 plus tax.  I'll wait.  I did find that 9.3 gr put them all in one large hole.  Funny, .1 gr in either direction and it went south.  Still looking for the unicorn 4100....
