Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

No you don't. That's felt, and you want baize.

You haven't kept up with modern billiards tables. They no longer use wool felt, but now use either Teflon cloth, or polyester felt. Almost all went to man made fabrics for better wear, and no annoying wool felt fuzz balls.
I buy mine from a local Billiards supply house, and it's very nice material, compared to old wool based felt.

Don't like the idea of when you are carrying this rifle around in the case. The rifle's weight is on it's sights, and that's without a tang sight installed.
Your workmanship is Shiloh quality!

LG,

There is a cutout that surrounds thebutt not installed when this picture was taken.  The rifle is very secure and not resting on its sights.  I'll try to get a picture uploaded tonight.  Been busy with work, soccer, etc.  Cheers

Nuclearcricket, Thanks for the comments.  There is a cutout that the butt snuggles into securely.  It just wasn't ready when I took these pics.  I'll upload a new pic later today.

Oughtsix, PM me your contact info and I'll get back to you soon.

I have a pistol box which was custom made for what looks as if it may have been a Broomhandle Mauser. and it has very simple recessed catches.

I'll post pics in due course, but don't wait up - I have to post from anywhere I can find wifi ATM, and strangely enough, I don't carry the box about with me. The camera, yes.

The earliest I can post pics will be Friday afternoon - which translates to sometime before midday on your side of the pond.

Well, that didn't work...

(Insert image - right-click for help.

There wasn't any useful help on 'right-click'...)

So, how does one include a pic? I didn't have any problem with the last provider.

Look up Peter Dyson Gunsmith on the interbox, top grade here in the UK, click on case building or repair or whatever and you will see that they sell brass corners etc. as well as proper side hooks. When I researched for making my case, 99% of cases used this type of hook. Shotgun cases generally used leather straps.
I will post pucs of mine soon.
Cheers,

Ah, Peter Dyson has a treasure-house. I don't know if he still has any, but he did have a batch of Damascus barrel blanks from a hundred or so years ago.

Now I've found the right notebook (with website's password etc) I'll put any pics up there.

IF it's not obvious, nice catch (the one in brass).   Grin
