30 Cal Schuetzen Bullet Mold

For those of you that have a 30 caliber Schuetzen rifle and are having trouble finding a mold for it. This one is now ready at NOE.

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

While not a tapered bullet, it casts .3092 in my 22/1 alloy and should BS, fairly easy.

I will be working with it after I get back from the Spokane shoot and am hoping for higher than average velocity with it. It's also available in a GC version.

Very nice looking design/bullet. Have you worked with it in any non - Schuetzen applications, ie 30-30, 30-40, 308, 30-06 ?

Frank:

I have a Saeco 304 which casts a .309 untapered flat nose bullet with a gas check of 188.7 grains with 20:1 alloy.

Did you want me to bring some to Spokane - to compare to your lighter bullet?

That reminds me. I haven't taken it out yet to test in my .308 or .30-06.

.308:

IMR 4198 23.5 grains 1,760 fps to 31.0 grains 2,192 fps
IMR3031 27.5 grains 1,802 fps to 37.0 grains 2,404 fps
H4895 28.3 grains 1,879 fps to 40.8 grains 2,497 fps
H335 29.2 grains 1,958 fps to 43.5 grains 2,500 fps

.30-06:

XMP 5744 28.8 grains 2,057 fps to 31.0 grains 2,237 fps
H4895 30.0 grains 1,708 fps to 45.0 grains 2,448 fps
IMR3031 30.0 grains 1,727 fps to 45.0 grains 2,492 fps

Dave,
I have that mold, too. I have to confess that I'm a 30 cal mold HORDER, no shame, either Smiley

I design this mold as a balancing act between light weight and a high BC, to hold the recoil down in HV loadings in such calibers as 308 Win. and larger. I will shoot the GC version, BSed in a 40X that I have. I put a 300 Savage barrel on and lenghten the neck out to 2.025 so, that I can have a nice long neck and can use 308 brass, as is.

I will also use the PB cavity in my 30/30 Wesson and see if I can get any accuracy at 1600+ But that will be after Spokane. I have 3 Ron Long 30 cal. molds to try, before that.

I've almost have my Hoch (the one in my avatar) ready with the RKS, 30/30 Wesson barrel. I have to put sights, and  forearm on it and then work a load up so, I'm not sure how competitive it will be for Spokane but, I'll bring it to play with and shoot my 33 if I have to.
