Which is the best parent case to make .40-70 Ballard?

Or,  a source for formed brass?

I bought mine from Buffalo Arms.  Bertram brass..not the best quality..haven't shot them yet, but fit chamber Ok.  In the past, I had Rocky Mtn. Ctg...changed hands..don't know if new name is same, turn up from solid .25-25 Stevens..only used black in these..but seem to hold up ok.  I might have them turn up some .40-63 everlasting cases for my .40-70 Ballard for P.P. loads.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I've seen a number of shooters use the .30-40 Krag case to make them. .405 Hornady can also be used, but take some work.
