Remington Rolling Block photos for BPCR Silhouette

I was asked to show a few more photos of the Rolling Block that Dave Crossno had made up for me.

We named this rifle "Aladdin".  This action was found on a complete rifle in an antique mall.  It had been made into a Floor lamp.  Part of the block was grinded off to let the electric cord run up through the barrel to the end where a light blub and lamp shade had been installed.  It was a military #5 action in 7mm.  At times, I wish it could still "shine a little light" on my shooting abilitiy and I am still looking for that right spot to rub it, to get the genie out of the barrel for those 3 wishes.  It has a lot of features of the Creedmoor, not all, but a lot.  This has a Green Mountain Std. 1 in 18 twist 30" Barrel in .45-70.
DT front sight, Baldwin back sight and fixed for a 23" MVA Scope.  This project was started in Sept. of 2008 and completed in May of 2011. Again, excellent work by Dave Crossno.

Got to be honest on the checkering, I decided to do that after I got the rifle back.  Crossno's shop can do your checkering if you request it, but I just happen to be talking to Tim Smith-Lyon at Classic Checkering.  I had caught him when he was not to busy (which that hardly ever happens) and I talked him in to doing the checkering on this piece.  Tim is a very nice gentleman, shoots our sport and as you can see he does very nice work.  We are fortunate to have such talented workers in our type of firearms.  If you have checkering needs, please take time and contact Tim at Classic Checkering.

It looked ok as a lamp, but WAY better after Dave Crossno performed his magic on it...... I'll forward these pics to the previous owner. I'm sure he won't believe it's his old lamp gun, lol.

Major,
That is a fine classic rifle built by very talented craftsmen for sure. I just meet Dave by phone last week for the first time. I ended up buying a sweet little 22 rimfire from him. I can tell you he is old school and a man of his word not to mention his vast knowledge of these classic rifles. Thanks for sharing those photos with us.

High Noon, Dave is always on the look out for a nice rimfire.  He is handy to have around when you are looking at a used rifle.  He knows what to be looking for in the safety department and whether it is original or not.  So, I feel very safe in telling you got a good shooting rifle and a rifle that functions well or he would not let it out of his shop.  (Unless it was a parts rifle he sold you.)

Beautiful rifle! Who did the color-case hardening?

Dave Crossno does his own case hardening.  Been doing it for quite awhile.  Each has it own colors and pattern, that is what is so interesting about them.
