38-50 Rem-Hep starting load

Could use some help with a starting load with smokeless powder for the .38-50 Rem-Hep.  I have a 1:12 twist douglas barrel and would like to develop a smokeless load for my 285 gr Brooks mould.
Current powders on hand are 5744, 4227 and 4198.
Any help would be appreciated.

I use about the same load I use in a 38/55.  4227-18grs or 4759 18grs.  behind a 300gr bullet.

Hi-Wall56
There are quite a few loads posted for 38-55 in the Schuetzen Loads section of this forum. I recommend you look through them. Many of them should be suitable for your 38-50 in your Hep. rifle.

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.
