Am at the Tulsa show and a fellow here has remington 25-20 brass that is very clean maybe unfired for 50 bucks for 50 in brass cases and 55 bucks for 50 nickel cases. Sounds awfully expensive but I will pick it up for whatever extra it costs to mail. Dennis

Stay away from the nickle plated, your just going to pay extra money for cases that will crack faster and not take annealing well.

pdshooter,

Very nice of you to offer this to the group. A buck each for once fired brass may sound a little pricey, but if I needed some I wouldn't hesitate to jump on this brass. I don't know if Remington will ever get around to producing more. I couldn't get a straight answer out of them.

FWIW, the brass I'm using is once fired through a lever gun.

Has .25-20 brass gotten to that level? At $1 ea., can't you buy loaded boxes of 50 .25-20 for about that, and shoot them up to have once fired brass?

Finding loaded 25-20 WCF cartridges from Remington isn't easy to do anymore. They gave me the same answer on loaded ammo as the brass. They said they weren't sure when they would make another run of it. At least that's the answer I got about a month ago.

I checked at the table in Tulsa with the brass and all of the non plated 25-20 was gone Sunday afternoon. The plated stuff was still there but I don't think anybody wants any of that!  Dennis

I better check my ammo locker, and brass storage! I don't even own a .25-20 anymore, but think I've got plenty of loaded ammo and brass I could part with at those prices!!!

I think it was last week that 50 new nickel 25 20 wcf cases sold for $82 on gun broker.  I also see boxes of loaded ammo listed at $100 plus.  Many people will be disappointed if Remington starts making them again.  Midway says it is seasonal production.  I was told that Remington make a run every 2 years, but I think I have been watching this for almost 3 years and nothing.

What is the difference in Rem. brass vs. others? I looked through mine, and found a few boxes of various old make brass, and about 9 boxes of loaded early yellow or white box Win., plus Peters, Western, etc. Is Rem. the best today, or has it always been better?
Just curious what makes Rem. better?

In normal use I'm sure any brand of brass will work just fine.

Running a 120 gr. bullet at 1660 fps in a 25-20 WCF is really pushing the limits of the brass. I found that Remington brass will usually hold up to many hundreds of firings before starting to separate near the shoulder. Winchester brass didn't fare so well, sometimes letting go after 10 - 12 firings. I suspect thinner cases and/or different material used in the Winchester cases is the problem.

I don't know how any of the various vintage brass would compare to what I'm using. My Remington brass is all 10 - 15 years old.

Starline brass may be an option, but it didn't work for me. After ~ 5 shots the base expanded enough that it wouldn't fit in my re & decapper.

This is from my personal experience only and may not hold true for every rifle. YMMV.
