I've heard of that name before on single shots. Might check with Schuetzenbob.

I figured you'd asked this question before! It would be pretty cool to see if someone else has any rifles worked on by him.
Is there a small bore forum where one could ask? Seein as yours is 22lr?

John, I have seen two examples of a B. Buckles coil spring breech lock. One dated 1956 and another dated 1957. As far as I know, I am the only gunsmith in my family at least in the last hundred years or so. Mr Buckles was likely a specialty gunsmith in the 1950s who modified older rifles with his special breech lock design. I have seen his work and been asked about it before, but I haven't been able to find any info on the man. You find very little results on Google. Lots of belt buckles and the occasional article about me, but I can't even track down where his shop was to know if he might be related to my paternal grandfather as a distant cousin or something. Thanks for thinking of me though, and enjoy owning own of the other Mr Buckles' rare breech locks.
This was Vince Buckles reply, very timely response, and I didn't say anything about the coil spring. Just said it had an interesting firing mechanism modifications. He must be pretty darn sharp!

Lmao, no!
Late 1950's says Vince, did you have another date pop, or is that around when you figured?
It would be so cool to talk to the old gunsmiths that modified these rifles after they became "obsolete"!

I have seen that somewhere before. Know who else might have done it?

Joe,
I like it, too. It looks like it might have as little as 1/4" hammer fall?
The Ballard posted in this thread, has what looks like the same type trigger adjustment:

It appears the "trigger adjustment" is only adjusting return spring pressure against the trigger? Looks like it would allow for various weight springs to also be exchanged for more pressure adjustment?
