Mineral spirits will work fine. Just be sure to not get to thin, or it will take forever to dry.

Stick the bottle in hot water to thin it.

I used half allox and half mineral spirits, coated bullets, they dried overnight, breech seated them, shot fine.

Hot water will indeed thin it. But it thickens because the mineral spirits in it evaporate over time. So heating it is a temporary fix, and when it cools it will become even thicker.
Adding the mineral spirits back to it will make it thin, and help it stay thin, even if it's not warm.

I've thinned it once or twice - start with a LITTLE mineral spirits -

I can't answer that, since I don't know how thick your alox is. Just add a tiny amount and stir. Once it's thin enough to your liking, stop.

There are two types of mineral spirits. the regular and the de-oderized (no smell) I had much the same problem when I found 5 bottles of the lee liquid alox. had them for so long that the liquid was anything but liquid. More like a heavy wax. I had one of those little plastic shot cups and think it only holds about an ounce. Since I had already transferred the stuff to one of the glasses that contain a candle wit a metal lid. So started off with one ounce. And mixed it up. Helped but had a way to go. ended up using 4 ounces de-oderized mineral spirits. Used an old butter knife to do the mixing. Frank

I drop a couple 45 cal round balls in each bottle of the Lee-alox it helps with the shaking up,  add a dab mineral spirits as required, usually warm it on hot water before adding the MS.   I have thought of using a higher flash solvent in order to speed drying and maybe leave them a little "less sticky" for handling.   just not sure which one would work.

As I recall Cast Bullets site  (pet peeve: I hate "boolits")  has a lot of discussion on on LL lube blends and systems---need to check it out again myself.

I bent up a coat hanger and made a small mixing whisk. Put it in my battery drive drill motor, and pulled the trigger. Mixes the alox and mineral spirits easily, and thoroughly.

I tried Lee's Liquid Alox this weekend and have to say that I'm very pleased. I used it in two rifles that like to lead, and got very little leading. I still have to do my part, but it cut the leading way down.  Wink

I've used the 60/40 LLA/liquid JPW with success.
