Shooting 32-20 with BP - part 3

Just came home fro mthe range, shot 10 rounds from a cold, clean barrel at the 75m target - same load, same positon:
R-P cases and primers (pulled the bullets and dumped the powder from factory rounds)
16.7gr Swiss 1 1/2Fg
151gr 16:1 GG bullet of my own design
Card overpowder wad
Whatever compression needed to have the breechblock seat the round the last bit into the rifling

The rifle is a BSA 12/15 Martini action, converted to CF and rebarreled with a .308 barrel.  Original sights being  used (PH7A rear), aperture front

Between shots, half a breath down the tube  followed by a single dry patch.
Probably my best target up to now - about 1 inch vertical, and 1.5 inch horizontal, this for 10 shots prone, with sling, no support.  And that includes a called flier...
I think I have a new 100m BP match rifle!  Cheesy

Martin, it sure sounds like you have things well on the way to having a tack driver. It will be interesting to see what, if, and if so how much things change when you start working with your fire formed brass. Will you be able to acquire Remington primers? If not, I am wondering how much if any a primer change will make.
Thank you for keeping us updated on your progress. I do find this very interesting.

Absolutely no idea as to the primers remington uses, but I have lined up some federal small pistol primers to try.  And I still have 100 cases of primed brass to form - maybe better keep those for shooting in competition.  And I just might try some Fg too.  After all, 1 1/2Fg would normally be too coarse for the round, so maybe Fg will shoot even better!  Roll Eyes

And here's the target - ISSF 25m pistol target, please disregard the .22 holes.  Most impacts a bit low, but that's just a few clicks up...  FWIW, that bigger hole in the 9 ring isn't mine, I'm just cheap and reuse .22 targets.

Hi Martin,
I have for some time played around with a Martini in .308/.222/.so far the best load I found has been a duplex 3Ogns of Wano P over 3gns of PB,I have tried various bullet weights ,150 up to 200gns ,BTW the twist is 12/1,the best groups so far have been in the 1.5" range @ 100yds,good enough for the match We shoot at a 4' cast iron target,2" 13Ring,off hand 100yds,Apperture sights,I breach seat also,I do shoot the same set up with straight PB & Unique, 9 to9.5gns,I know it is not a 32/20, this case is formed by necking up a .222/.223 case to .308.

All good fun hope this is of some interest.  Cheers Mal.
