To help round Maynard things out here a bit; and to add to the good, the bad, and the ugly, I offer the following reproduction Maynard carbine in Model II configuration.

These pieces were placed on the market by Harpers Ferry Arms (Co.) and were initially intended to be "shooters".  Some were, some were made so, and a good many were wall hangers.  The reviews to this day remain mixed, and they do generate vibrant discussion at a minimum.
