Modesto Rifle Club ASSRA Match 3/14/2015

Scores are noted at the end of the Schuetzen Meisters comments.

Today was an exceptional day for shooting, started off foggy but ended up in the low 80's.  I've seldom seen the high scoring that came from this group of seasoned shooters.  One exception is new shooter Terry Harper who some of you know shot a perfect 250 yesterday in practice and backed it up today with another 250 as well as a 247.  Not to be outdone was Jerry Hartwig,  the now humbled and terrified .25 guru stressing  that he may lose his throne to the upstart Harper.  When one considers, however, that the majority of Hartwig's 250's are shot with a 120 grain .25 caliber bullet and Harper is shooting a 245 grain .33 bullet, there is a definite advantage with the .33.   Hartwig even dug into his cash can on the back 40 of his ranch and invested in a Randolph front rest which allowed him to beat Harper with a score of 498.

We had 10 shooters and their scores are listed below.  Our club has these matches from February thru November and it is a treat to compete with these guys.
Kudos to all.

Bruce Kirby, Match Director (Scheutzenmeister)

Thank you on behalf of the group Joe! We sure wish some of the SD group could make it up for the May ISSA Regional as we have truly enjoyed being in their company in the past.

Just bench matches? No offhand shooting?

Yes, very high bench scores.

Joe only at the regional most of the fellows are getting up in age and holding up a rifle is not doable. If we offered an offhand match we would have to drop one benchrest event and we want them to be able to shoot all the events offered for the day.
