14,000 firearms! 50,000 artifacts. Actually quite overwhelming!

A couple videos:

Indeed, along with the Cody Museum in WY, is a great place to visit. Amazing amount of eye-candy. Especially nice collection of the Stevens Schuetzen rifles. There is so much to see it definitely can take up a full day.

The Davis museum is indeed impressive, and even more so since it was one man's private collection donated to the state. I really enjoyed seeing it, and was impressed by the variety of arms.
Every gun there is not the minty, untouched museum piece you'll see in some collections. But that's part of what I personally enjoyed about it. There are a lot of pieces in his collection that the average guy could own, and does. But also some extremely rare pieces also!
Back when I went through it, the entry price was by donation at the exit door, and we felt compelled to give generously, as it was so enjoyable!

Canyon TX, has an amazing museum as well, with A LOT of single shot rifles. Not as many as the Davis museum, but impressive.
Worth a trip, just south of Amarillo.

The Claud Fuller Collection at the Chickamauga NPS museum has an outstanding collection of early military arms, with a number of extreme rarities.  Here's a video link someone posted touring the collection.  Firearms start about 2:40 and end about 11:00.  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)
