Okay I can't find by doing searches any 25-20SS reloading info on this forum.  I know darn well that it has been talked about on here.
Help tell me what some of you are using for powder and charges.
I have 2400, 4227, 4198 and 5744 powders on hand.
Ken.

Using the Forum search can be perplexing. Put this in Google "assra 25-20ss". I use H108.

If you give me some idea of the twist of your barrel and the bullets which you intend to use maybe I could be of some help.
P.S. For cast bullets I would assume that the loads given for .25-20 WCF would be within .1 or .2 grain of being right.

If you simply go to the "sticky" at the top of the page there at least 4 pages of discussion on "schuetzen loads"   I know there is at least one 25-20ss load listed --and probably more. Wink

I'm still working on my load for the LoWall 25-20 SS.  Seems to like something close to 7.0g of 4227 with a 71grain GC bullet.  As near as I can tell the twist is 1 in 15.  I started out at 7.5 grains and results seem to be getting better as I lower the charge 0.1g at a time.  Tried 2400 as well, but the 4227 seems better.  I am about to switch to a 77g plain base bullet cast of #2 alloy and start over as I found an original mould dor that at a reasonable price.

Thanks for all the inputs.
I found a bottle of Trail Boss anyone use it.

The Rifle is an Win Hi Wall with a super heavy barrel, Built in 1903.
Twist I have not measured but plan on doing that soon.

Might try searching "Site: (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) 25-20 loads" if the others don't give up what you need.

My 25/20 ss is a Stevens 44 1/2 set up with a 1-10" Badger barrel by CPA and so far it's favorite load is a 105gr Hoch tapered bullet breach seated with 8.0 grains of AA-9. It's kinda hard to experiment with other powders right now as few are avail.

Well, I scored a bunch of H108 for my 32/357 Dell Bench Gun, so it would be great to have a nice load using the same powder for my 25/20 SS high wall.  Is your recipe in the thread you cite?

Is there a list anywhere that correlates 25-20SS bullet weight to twist rates?
This season I'm just starting with the 25-20ss---in 3 different rifles. an (unknown barrel source) custom Ruger #1, and a #2 'roller and a German break-open stalking rifle---both the latter have been relined.-----I need to check the twist rates on all three.

I'm assuming that the 125 gr bullet is a bit long/heavy for a 14' twist rate (the german rifle) unless you drive it well beyond normal cast bullet velocities.

Froggie, I use 6.8 grains of H108 with the Lyman 257420 GC bullet in 1 to 20.
