Jack,

Which aperture range do you have, there are three.

I have the 2.5 to 4.0 version.

You have to a bit careful in buying one of these.  They are designed to function correctly when mounted on the rear-facing portion of the front globe.  If one is mounted facing forward, you can see all the individual segments that make up the adjustable aperture.  It still works but the visible segments are very distracting.

Mine is marked "made by Centra."  The seller offered adjustable iris's with the Anschutz name or the Centra name.  I ordered the the Anschutz which was more expensive.  Although the iris was delivered in an Anshutz box, it was marked made by Centra.

This resulted in heated words between me and the seller.

Thanks Jan,

Do you actually change the diameter to suit conditions at 200 yds or is it to adjust for the shooting distance and target size?

If you are asking about the rear, you change for light. Front typical change is for bullseye size, although in poor light larger front can help.  I also used different front sizes prone to offhand.  More wobble needs more room.

It's very much a personal choice.

As Boats observed, the front aperture is sized to give the best target picture and, as also observed, be sure to open the front aperture wide enough to see a goodly amount of "light" around the aiming bull.  The rear aperture is then adjusted for lighting conditions or for how your eye "sees" at any given time.  How the eye sees things is dependent on a number of things including fatigue and hydration so don't get caught up any formulaic setting for the rear aperture - adjust until you see the best sight picture at the time.

Jacks right , adjust for condition that day don't get set on one thing.  Common misconception is small is more precise.  In fact good amount of light around the bull allows better alignment
