Barrel channel on winder musket

Can someone tell me the size of a winder musket barrel channel? I would love to fit a # 3 or 4 weight barrel into a winder musket stock. Can it be done. Thanks Tommy Auger

Measure the original barrel and compare to the barrel you want to install and see if there is enough wood to do so. Can put a #3 1/2 profile barrel on my Winder musket before the wood starts getting what I would consider too thin along the top edges. Your wood may be a bit thicker or thinner, so you will need to do the calculation yourself to see what your particular stock will take.
