Forster Case trimmer for the 32-40 ???

Anyone using a Forster case trimmer for their 32-40 brass trimming ? Forster's data shows a # 32 pilot, well the # 32 pilot will not fit inside any of my Winchester virgin 32-40 WCF brass ? The collet size is fine .

I trim mine with the Forster. The 31 pilot is the one to use.

Where did you find that data #31 ?  Icalled Forster several weeks ago and they said," the # 32 pilot ." Also their printed data showed # 32 and several of the reloading supply Co. Midway all show the # 32 . I called Forster and spoke with a tech. Rod and he stated that# 32 should work . I will be mailing him back the pilot with a piece of 32-40 brass .

Regardless of the case, I usually grab a collet and try it in the neck to see what fits well. I don't pay much attention to the charts.

If it is new brass, has it been full length sized yet?
If not, it may be tight at the neck to start with?

Would't order another until you fire-form your brass or whatever you are going to do to it. Forster will make you a custom pilot for the grand total of $13, so get what you want.

I just use the 30 cal. pilot. Seems to work fine as long as the base of the case is held tightly in the trimmer.

I get pilot that's a bit too large then turn down to fit my cases as fired.  Case  neck size is very individual gun to gun, all but impossable for Forster to make one for a single shot rifle thats a real good fit unless custom ordered. Or good enough to suit me anyhow

Some pilots are soft and dress easy, could be done in a drill press with paper. Others have a hard case that needs to be cut through before they dress down to fit. I think the old Lymans are the hard ones.

Because of O/A Length and rim size differences I have 2 or 3 trimmers for brass cases, Home made sliding table saw jig to trim Shot shells from 2 3/4 to 2 5/8 too. Be nice if one would do but no.
