I agree about the Chrony, I bought mine in 1986. They are very easy to set up. I'm going to send it off to update it.

I've had good results from the Pro Chrono I have made by Competition Electronics.

I think they are still less than 150.00
I paid about 120.00 a few years ago.

My Chrony worked fine until I sent a 45 caliber gas check into the front end of it.

I have an older Chrony and a somewhat newer ProChrono, the Chrony is much better, the ProChrono doesn't reliably pick up every shot.

My cheapo Crony has served me well for 10yr. Think I paid $89 for it.  If were to do it again, I'd get the model that allows one to have the readout next to them. I'm so blind these days that I have use a pair of binoc's to read the data (or get up and walk over to the Crony).

Yep, my Chrony went to glory when it caught a Kieth style wadcutter from a 357 Magnum. Returned the Chrony to the manufacturer and was given a credit. I upgraded to a model with the remote read out. Point being don't trash the earthly remains until you communicate with the Chrony folks. The Chrony is a good machine.

I used to borrow a chrony who's owner would drink and shoot.  It had a LOT of bullet holes in it!  I'm building a deflector for mine before I attempt to put it down range.

I like that new chronograph Cadwell is selling, as it plugs into my smart phone and all the data is presented and saved there. Then I can email it to myself. The chrony alone runs $80 or less and the complete kit ~ $135.

All of my single shots shoot one tiny ragged hole with cast bullets ... it's just the following shots that tend to open up my groups Wink ...

Is a 'smart phone' one of those new ones without a cord?
