At one point in time I had a RB in 43 Spanish. I used 45-70 "trapdoor level" loads with out any problems.

Yes. My vintage Lyman load manual lists 10-17 grs of Unique for a 325 gr bullet in the 45-70. That should put you in the ballpark.

That should work. I have used 11 grains of Unique with a 370 grain bullet for plinking. 26 grains of 4759 was much better.

I never really thought of Unique as a powder for large capacity old BP cases. Huh  Never really cared for low volume charges of relatively fast powder in those big air spaces. mostly used it in pistol cartridges.   How position sensitive is it?

Very position sensitive , but still works well. You just have to mount the rifle same way every shot.

I use Unique in 38-55 (9g) unddr a 250g bullet and 45-70 (11g) under a 405g bullet.

I use a 3/4" X 3/4" piece of single ply toilet paper on top of the powder to keep it against the primer. Amazing accuracy in any number of rifles.

Are you using rifle or pistol primers?

Thanks
