Tell me how you make the 32-40 from 38-55 brass. I'm open for suggestions. Do you just use a 32-40 F/L sizing die? Thanks.....

just use 30-30. it will be a touch short but will work with no difficulty in a single shot and in lever action seat the bollit out. much cheaper than 38-55 brass and 30-30 can also be used for it [38-55].

I only did one and ran it into a FL die. Worked fine. 38-55 gets a little longer, 30-30 or 32 special gets a little shorter.

I prefer forming 32-40 from 38-55 as they come out just right for length versus the short cases when formed from 30-30, 32 WS, etc.

A 32-40 size die and a bit of Imperial Sizing Wax is all I've ever needed to make them in one pass.

I have made hundreds of 32-40 from both 30-30 and/or 38-55.  The latter come out a little long, so just trim them down to size.  I use a regular full length sizing die, lube the cases and run them through, sometimes in increments, re-lubing again each time.  You may have to anneal the brass a little bit if you encounter a lot of resistance or you get heavy die marks on the side of the cases.  Only problem is finding 38-55 brass.  I always used W-W but Starline brass may work better for you because of the thinner wall thickness.

I have a CH4D form die, one pass before the 32/40 die. Not needed though you can go right to the 32/40 if you want.

Best tip is use Imperial size wax

I've always made the .32-40 from .32 Win. Spl. myself. A bit short, but much easier to start with the .32 caliber neck, and knock the shoulder down.

There couldn’t possibly be anything easier than making 32-40 out of 38-55. Use that Winchester too short crap, grease then with a little Imperial, do it in 2 or 3 passes and trim to length because they will grow. Take to the range and shoot.

40 Rod is right it's one of the simplest forming jobs.  Thought it was all as easy as 32/40 from 38/55 when I started forming 25 Krag, Thats a challenge, 32/40 childs play.
