I want to breach seat in my spankin' new Wyoming Arms 32-40 hiwall. I'll be a rank newbie at it. I'd appreciate recommendations on gear. Presently I have none of it. Moulds? Seaters?

Welcome.

If you go to the Reloading SS Rifle, Schuetzen Loads sticky you'll see info on loading your .32-40.

If you go to the For Sale/Trade, Single Shot Products sticky you see info on products for your rifle, including breach and cartridge seaters.

I would recommend Russ Weber seaters.

Hi Fearless,

I use breach seaters from Russ Weber and Ken Meyer. They both work great.

Check out Hoch, Accurate and Boomers for moulds.

Lets see some pictures of your new rifle.

Many thanks boys. Having a sick day or two right now but I'll do my best to send pix as soon as I'm back in my shop. Won't be long; I'm too ornery for winter bugs to spend much time in my old body. They can't find much to feed on.

Is Wyoming Armory still making their own actions?  They took them off of their web site some time ago so I assumed that they had stopped making them.

I'd also love to see a picture of your new rifle when you get a chance.

I have a CPA in 32-40 on order and I want to try my hand at making my own seater ! I always try to make something first before buying it . it's just something I enjoy doing . I will post pics when done . My idea is to take a new 32-40 WCF piece of brass and drill out the bottom primer hole to except a length of brass rod that will run or stick out 1/16 " from the top . Then sweat in the brass piece . I also have an old brass hammer that I might drill into and sweat the brass rod into for the handle . My only concern is should I have the rod straight or some kind of bend to it ? A lot of the pictures I see have some sort of angle or bend in the rod.

The bend on a push seater allows the use of iron sights.  I just use a regular 32-40 case with the primer pocket threaded 1/4-20.  I glue a 1/4-20 threaded plug inside the case make a plug on a thread for the head, slot the back end so I can adjust the seating depth through the primer hole.  Add a bent handle that screws in to the primer pocket and you are ready to go.

speaking of breech-seting devices.  Huh  Does anyone currently make one for the euro schuetzen martinis.   I know that "Bass" developed one and that DaleR made a version, but they were both one-offs for personal use and never put into production,   They used a flange on the base for the cartridge that could be rotated into the small gap between the dropped block and the breech end of the barrel.  this anchored the case for the lever/toggle to ram the bullet into the rifling.  While I'm working with variation on the "stop-ring" bullet, I'd like to try a proper breech seater as an alternate.

I hope you get to feeling better soon.
Something you might want to consider as you get a mould and breech seater for your WY Armory High Wall. Depending of course on the configuration of the leade ahead of the chamber, if your bullet is a thousandth or more over groove diameter, you will probably need a mechanical seater rather than a push type seater.
Good luck with your new schuetzen, I hope you get to shooting it soon.

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.
