Breech Seating and case length ?

I plan on always breech seating 32-40 in my CPA rifle .Will the cases ever stretch and need trimmed like all my other rifle brass? Why I ask is that for reasons of economics I have always used a Lee case length gauge and chucked the cutter head in my drill press, works fast and accurate , however I see that Lee Precision does not make a case length gauge for the 32-40 WCF . Thanks

I have never had to trim especially when using 30-30 brass (fireformed). With BS case length, as long as it is short enough, isn't an issue. MTCW

I never had to trim cases for my CPA in .32-20CPA and .40-50SS.

I have had cases stretch when I tried Goex FFFg Express in my .32/40.   When using FFg or Fg they stretched about 0.040" and then stopped stretching.  I now have some brass with 250+ firings on them. They've never been trimmed or annealed.

I have found the need to trim 32-40 cases when breach seating. Its also not un-typical to have one side of neck stretch more than the other. Only takes a minute to check the length on occasion, the ones that stretch more on one side than the other stick out like sore thumb.

John, do you anneal your cases?  I have had uneven case mouths, but only when I was shooting freshly annealed cases.  I stopped my annealing experiment after that.

The non-annealed cases seem fine for me, but it could simply be that I haven't been doing this for nearly as long as you and have yet to run into the problem.

EDIT:  I should also add that I have stretched a number of Starline .38-55 cases.  Maybe because they are significantly thinner at the mouth than Win .32-40 brass?  (My Starline is only .007" to 0.008" at the case mouth.)

Thanks,

Chris.

Does the type of powder you use (fast vs slow) effect stretching?

Chris I do not anneal.

MB32-40 I don't know what you would consider a fast and slow powder to be?
