Question I need to cast a larger bullet
Jan 10th, 2015 at 1:33pm

Hello All:
My rifle barrel has a groove Dia. of .459.
I'm casting with wheel weights with a ladle plus 2% tin added.
Casting temp is 750.
My bullets are dropping from the mold at .4575.
How can I get the bullets up to .459 or .460?

Thanks,

Gary

A couple layers of fiberglass tape on the mating faces of the mold may do it.
I have a lathe so I just make a reamer and enlarge the driving bands so as to get a bullet large enough.

Try looking up the process to lap a mould using a bullet cast from it. It is called beagle. Cast bullet assoc. Forum would be a place to look.
