  WHY IS USPS IN TROUBLE?
Kurt

It is the largest public employee union and one of the largest unions left in the US if not the  largest.  Bush43 and the Rs put a poison pill in the PO.  It requires them to put $75 billion into employee benefit fund to cover health and welfare and pensions of employees that have not even been born yet.   There are many other restrictions make sure they are not profitable.  No private company will deliver a letter from Houston to Nome for 49 cents.  It has worked very well just as ol Ben Franklin envisioned for 200 years.  This is about driving it bankrupt to facilitate privatization and union busting. Congress broke it. Congress can fix it.

Here's a wacky idea, thake it to your bank. Put it in the bank and let the bank put it through the system. It works every time for me.

I have found that using a MO from a Credit Union works well and it cost less. At least at my CU. just .50 for any amount.

I've had numerous sellers that wont accept bank or credit union MO. A lot of people want a USPS MO because they feel there's less chance of bogus, or fake MO.
I always have MO checked at my bank before cashing or depositing them.

I go down to a local WINCO supermarket and get moneygram money orders for .40 centavos.  Never had a problem, the store prints them off in front of me.  In fact I'm paying off my CPA with them and Gail has not said a word.

I bet she will if she figures out those are pesos instead of dollars  Grin

I've been selling firearms for around 30 years and prefer USPS money orders, which are very hard if not possible to counterfeit.  I definitely prefer them over cashier checks, some of which are relatively easy to counterfeit.

I've never had a problem with a bank or credit union accepting USPS money orders and will ship a firearm immediately when receiving them as payment.

Cashier's checks are a different story.  My bank says it can take up to 10 days to verify a cashier's check, which is BS in today's electronic transfer world, but I do wait at least 5-days prior to shipping.

BTW, neither my local bank or credit union will accept Canadian Postal Service money order but I did recently cash one at the local Post Office with no problem, although the teller did mention that the amount had to be less than $200 due to the limited amount of funds they had available.

Recently I took an $800.00+ MO to the post office to be cashed.  The clerk verified that the MO was good and told me to bring it back about 1 hr. before they closed and they would cash it.  I did, they did.

I sent a usps mo to Boomer moulds in Canada and he could not cash it.  He returned it and i sent a personal check as we have done business before. I had to cash the mo out at my bank after some hassel at the post office and found out that you could get a special usps mo for Canada.
