How to ID a MOS mould

I have a couple of moulds, obtained from highly trusted sources, represented as have been created by David Mos. These moulds bear no markings of any kind. How do I positively ID them as Mos moulds?

Pictures might be of some help. I have 5 of David's moulds, 4 that I bought from him. The only one that isn't marked in any way is my .25 caliber, but I know of a couple of others that aren't marked either.

Post a couple of pictures of the outside and inside and I'll see if they look like my moulds.

Hi Ray,

I have a .32cal 205gr Mos spitzer mould .322 on the base band. I'll get some pictures for you tonight.

My Mos molds have no identifying marks other than a sequence # that he used to keep track of what the mold was when he was cutting them.  The thing he told me is that he cut them in lots, and cut the small calibers first, so that if they didn't come out right, he could recut to larger.

Look at the bottom of this page.  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) Dave Mos moulds varied a lot.  One thing that John Boy's and mine all have in common is the socket style screw head used for the sprue plate stop.  Sprue plates are some of the thickest I've seen as well.  Bob

The 22LR mold I posted has no markings on the outside mold halves.  It is his "KT22" mold and only identification was that was on the invoice he sent.  In addition to humongous sprue plates, the large plate tension hex head is .2470 and always there are 3 large mold pins.  All other hex head bolts are same that Lyman-Ideal has.  And his molds will not fit in a Lyman mold box because of the size of the sprue plate

And FYI - David Mos does not make molds anymore.  He told me only firearms

Thank you ALL. I've seen and heard enough that I feel capable of identifying the real thing when I see it.

I also have four of Mos's moulds. The description and picture by Bob exhibit same characteristics as mine, although one of my .32cal moulds is double cavity and two different weights. My .25 cal Mould of the four is the only one that is marked by him. They each have 3pins and all have the socket cap screw as a stop for sprue plate.
