A good machinist with a decent shop can make pretty much anything. Sort of an exercise in futility.

I could make most of that stuff on my old wartime (WW1!) Cincinnatti (Sp?) onetime treadle lathe (then driven by a ½ h.p. electric motor).

Took a good deal of gentle handling as all the jib-strips were worn to wossnamery, and the lead/cross-slide/etc screws and nuts had an interesting amount of play.

So, what ARE you using that tap for, Harry??  Huh
Joe.

Hello Joe,
Nothing remotely to do with firearms, A friend of mine bought a brass framed clock kit in a house clearance sale, it was in a drawer in the garden shed. He likes tinkering so he bought it but found that the four corner spacers that hold the front and rear frames together had been drilled but not tapped. So he sent them to me along with one of the screws. He assumed that I would be able to help him. Once the thread was identified it was no problem. It only took a few minutes to tap all eight holes. I sent them back and got a nice reply from his better half thanking me and informing me he had just left for another 6 month tour of duty in the dry and dusty plains of the middle east.

Harry.

Edit. Thanks to all who responded, it looks like some people don't know what their left and right hands are doing when it comes to making rules and regulations. We have the same problem with our Civil Servants who draft legislation.  Roll Eyes
