I wish to add on a question, what is a good large small/ primer for 28/30/120, .22 Hornet ,, .32/40 and .45 Colt all use F1 swiss? Hank45

I used Rem 1 1/2 in my slug gun. I think 28/30's use LP.

Jerry, how does the LR to Lp swage work? I have one of Fred Cornells flash hole swages that goes from .080 down to .060 but have not had time to try it much. I punch large pistol primers through .008 art paper to seat them out on most loads.

The Hoke Primer Pocket Swage doesn't change the size of the flash hole, although it will uniform them. The base goes in your loading press like a shell holder and the swage screws into the top like a die. It's adjustable and allows you to set (swage) a LR primer pocket down to LP primer depth.

It takes a Rock Chucker press at the every least as quite a bit of leverage is required to set the primer pocket back that far.

I know some shooters have luck using paper of various kinds under the primer but I never found any advantage to doing that.

Well after trying every primer I could buy or borrow I got my best groups and lowest ES with CCI BR2. Thats with a kitchen parchment paper wad in the case over the flash hole.
