Houston Warehouse Experiments?
Dec 12th, 2014 at 12:16pm
Print Post
On another forum, I found reference to the Houston Warehouse Experiments.  Apparently, these were benchrest tests of .22 rimfires, fired indoors, at ranges of 100, 200 & 300 yards.  Time period was 1976-1984.  I did not learn anything else, but the mention surely got my attention.

Does anyone know any more about them?

Read about it years ago in Precesion shooting. Very intresting and shaped my opinion you need a good rifle & cartridge to SHOOT benchrest.

You need to be able to read conditons to WIN Benchrest matches.

I think it was re-printed in one of the PS Annuals.  Seems to me they shot center fire bench rifles too.

Every time I drive buy one of those long factory production Chicken Houses think about that article and how they would make good indoor ranges. If you could stand the smell.

Sure miss Precision shooting magazine. Wonder if Dave Scott had not expanded to all the other monthlys he could have keep PS going.

Dave Brennan was the editor of Precision shooting and it's sister publication the Accurate rifle. Think there may have been a third magazine also put out by him. The Accurate rifle was the first magazine to go out of print followed by Precision Shooting itself about two or so years ago. Miss both of them as they had something for everyone in each issue. Rkaires,  thanks for posting the link,   after I print a copy you need to  hide it so the tricks  stay hidden !
The article leads to  a bunch of  ideas, questions, and answers.  Whole lot of things i need to work on, besides wind.

Rkaires - a big Thanks for posting the article.  Many interesting facts for load and shooting that effects accuracy.
Wonder what accuracy would be applying the items on a 10" circle @ 1000yds - excluding wind and mirage

Singleshotlover,

The 3rd magazine that was being printed and went down the tube was THE TACTICAL RIFLE. It's truly a shame that these publications are no longer being printed. They were a wealth of information. I wrote a few articles for PS and TAR, and looked forward to reading most of the articles within. I do have to admit that some of the PS articles were almost too technical. At any rate I miss PS and TAR.
